The ASME IX welding standard is commonly used worldwide for fabrication of pressure retaining components such as pressure vessels, piping, and related auxiliary components. ASME IX allows the use of ‘standard welding procedures’ in accordance with Article V. ‘SWPS’ are previously qualified procedures covering a range of typical processes and joint types.
These WPS are one-page, easy-to-use, shop-floor procedures based on SWPS qualified by the American Welding Society (AWS). These WPS are considered to be ‘additional instructions’ and shall be attached to the AWS SWPS in accordance with ASME IX QW-540(e). The AWS SWPS can be purchased elsewhere online and are not supplied by weldspeconline.com.
These welding procedures are suitable for components designed to ASME VIII (pressure vessel), ASME B31.1 (power piping), ASME B31.3 (process piping), and ASME B31.4 (pipeline systems).
Please read the Conditions of Use of Standard Welding Procedure Specifications.
